AC3 is killing sound in WMP9

I use Compro PVR and WMP9 to record/playback TV shows. When I install AC3 codec, required for sound on certain AVI files, I can no longer get sound in WMP9. Cucusoft avi-dvd software also seems to have this effect on WMP9 sound. I have temporarely uninstalled both AC3 and Cucusoft while searching for a solution to this problem. Would greatly appreciate any help/explanation you may have to offer.

which ac3 codec did you install?

i'd recommed ac3filter from the doom9 downloads page

oh and for playback you might want to try bsplayer zoomplayer or mpc ... :)

Is that the codec pack you're referring to? If you search through this forum regarding codec packs, you'll realize that it is best to stay away from any codec packs. You can try uninstalling the codec pack and do a clean reinstall of the AC3 filter alone, and see if that alleviates your problem.
