hi, i loaded an avi or whatever into powerdvd 5 and it captured the first screen i took but from then on when i pressed capture it would just go black for a second and return, and there would be no bmp in my folder for the shot.
powerdvd 5 is the only thing ive gotten sucessful screens with, and ive tried turning on and off acceleration in the options...
wierd that it would work once and then stop working...

@GleepGlop22

Welcome to the forum! :D

Here's one suggestion you can do.

You can use TMPGenc to open your AVI. Do a Shift+Ctrl+P to preview. Go to the vicinity of the frames you want. Now go to File / Output to file / Sequence BMP/PPM/TGA/JPG file. Select a destination folder and format type. Press Save to process. Just press your Stop key to abort when you got enough BMPs to choose from. ;)

Also, if you want to copy and paste a specific frame, you can do so in preview window. Do a Ctrl+C to copy to clipboard.

hmm, the ctrl c method for the preview seems to work, except the quality is poor and i know it could be better, im not sure if theres a way to get a better quality output... is this the program that people use to get screens from avi's?

the TMPGenc works but the quality is poor unless i havent figured out how to maximize the quality yet, and powerdvd 5 inexplicably doesnt work...

You must have posted a new thread by mistake, so I'll merge this one with the one that's currently running.

Load in TMPG a DVD Template.
From avi you can capture a frame with VirtualDub (or VDubMod)
From DVD you can capture a frame with Media Player Classic (not 100% sure though)
