Is it possible to make SVCD2DVD or a DVD2DVD video image display with a fake anamorphic squeeze? I know that most SVCD's are letterbox on widescreen material and I also have some letterbox DVD titles I'd like to try this with (My TV's own zoom sucks and have found that DiVX with it's own type of inbuilt zoom is smoother with less scanlines).

Cheers.

If you mean re-encoding then yes its probably quite normal practice.
You can take a wide screen film like Episode I and crop off the black bars with VirtualDub, resize bicubic to 720x576 (pal) and frameserve the lot to your favorite encoder.

No not reencode. In Doom9's guide to converting SVCD to DVD he uses TMPGenc to correct the sizing/AR in order for SVCD'z 480x resolution to display correctly as 720x DVD ratio. This is done losslessly.

What I want to do is a similar thing with DVD letterbox to create a fake zoom to what it would be if anamorphic resolution (Of course it would not be anymore resolution but would not need zooming on the TV itself). I just need to know what settings I would need to use in TMPGenc in order to achive a similar effect.
