View Full Version : Scenarist error (a DVD with angles)

Hey everyone, I was hoping someone could help me out with a slight problem I'm having. First off, the DVD is Walking With Dinosaurs (PAL), and DI4U demuxed it by vobid (with 'all angles' ticked). I then converted the video via DoCCE4U, and finally created a script with ScenAid 0.9.0.5. I then imported the script into Scenarist 2.7 successfully - with a few errors. Every file was imported correctly, except for the 'nocce' ones (Scenarist says: can't find xxx-nocce.mpv - because there is no such thing, only the .m2v exists), and they were imported as place holders instead. I then tried to convert Place holder -> Data, but Scenarist said it couldn't find the xxx.mpv file (DoCCE4U didn't convert it, because it wasn't suppposed to). I then tried to re-import the xxx-nocce.m2v files manually (after re-naming them to have a .mpv extension), which then resulted in:

Warning This Video [ C:\BBCDino\VTS01\VTS__01_V001-no-cce.16~9_1.mpv ] has different duration.

(I also tried to re-name dummy files to the respective xxx-nocce.mpv names, imported them, and they resulted in the same errors)

..once again, it only had this error for the 'nocce' files. This is where I basically hit a brick wall, but I decided to try exporting the DVD anyway, and then it came up with this error:

----------------------------------------------------------------
Warning Multiplex is terminated at 00:00:00;14, but expecting end time is 00:00:09;23. Please check video data file or track "VTS01V001-no-cce".

......then a few hundred lines later...

Info Multiplexing
Info Multiplexing VOB Main Stream
Info Multiplexing VOB Angle Stream 1
Info Interleaving VOB, Block No 1
Error ERROR in Interleaving.
Error ERROR in making ILVU.
The PTSs are different at ILVU#2 in CELL#1.
Error Dvd_ilv : Reconfig Vobset Tree Error
Error Terminated Interleaving (BBC.scn-VTS01V014_t.vob).
Error Start PTS of ILVUs in each angle are deferent. The encoding paremeters should be same between angles.
Error Interleave is failed.
Info Multiplexing failed, Track<VTS01V014>

Error MuxFromDB:MuxVTS failed
Error Multiplex failed
Error DVD files could not be created

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Are these errors related to the errors I had with my 'nocce' files ? I'm so close to finishing this :( I hope someone can shed some light on this matter :) Thanks in advance.

//Edit:

Ok guys... found a slight bug for PAL people that .5 won't quite find no-cce files properly unless they are renamed from .m2v to .mpv (D3s7)

That probably explains my first problem, but the 'angle' / and 'different duration' errors still remain.

I've only done one "angle" project so far and I/m using BatchCCEWS but maybe this will help.

When encoding "angle" video, one must take care of two things. All video streams (that is all angles of the "same" video) must have the same duration. Moreover CCE must be configured to keep the current I-Frame structure (If I'm mistaken, someone please correct me here).

To solve this using BatchCCEWS, you must check the angle box for every video stream that is part of multiangle, and manually edit the duration for these streams. For example if you have 3 different "angle" streams with frames no 37654, 37655 and 37656 you must set them all to 37654 (you can only decrease the end frame parameter).

Im not sure how to do this with DoCCE4U. You should propably "upgrade" to BatchCCEWS.

Hey n1ck0s, thanks alot for your reply. But, I have one little question for you - is there a way I can tell which video files are part of a multi-angle? I've got approximately 242 files which need encoding, and it's extremely hard to tell which ones I need to enable the 'angle' feature in DoCCE4U (the angle check-box is also in this, so I don't think BatchCCEWS is needed) for :( Thanks in advance :D

As I said I've only done one multiangle project before but since there are no other replies yet...

Using IfoEdit you can surely determine which VTS, PGCs contain multiple angles, and therefore find the corresponding .m2v files (by their filenames). One other way (possibly quicker) is to check the no of frames for each "job" in DOCEE4U. If for example there are 3 "jobs" in a row w/ same frame number (+/- 2 frames) then these files are most likely part of multiangle (w/ 3 angles of course). If the frame number isn't exactly the same, be sure to manually correct this.

I can't think of anything else right now. If the multiangle parts aren't that many, using IfoEdit will propably be the best way to go (than checking each one of the 242 "jobs" in DOCEE4U).

P.S. BatchCCEWS as I understand is the new version of DOCCE4U, so you may want to do the upgrade anyway.

Hi, and thanks again for the reply. I think there is no other way to tell which video files are part of an angle - it doesn't help when all of the files are called: VTS__01_V001.16~9_1.m2v all the way up to V242 :( IFOEdit tells me which PGCs contain angles, but I simply can't tell from the file names that DIF4U demuxed. I'm now going through all of the files seperately, hopefully I can finish by Christmas :) I think/hope this is the solution to the 'angle' error above, so thanks for that.

On the other hand, I still can't fix the "different duration" warnings for the no-cce files, even after loading them into a new project in Scenarist to find out the timecodes, then editing the .SCP file afterwards to match. I'm beginning to think about just losing the second angle and demuxing by PGC, that would make things a whole lot easier :D Thanks again.

//EDIT

Oops, I opened the wrong VTS in IFOEdit, which probably explains why the angles differed to the file names :p It's all good now, hopefully I can just re-encode these angle files, and all will be well!

For this "different duration" problem you mention... Are those files for dummy cells? I had some issues w/ dummy cells myself and this thread (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=71938) helped me out.

You must be a pal user...

there's a slight bug in the latest version of scenaid (.5) that improperly sets the file name on no-cce files for pal users...

Yeah, I'm a PAL user :) But, I changed the no-cce files' extensions to *.mpv before I generated the script with ScenAid - Scenarist still imported them with 'different duration' errors. Is there more to it than that?

@n1ck0s: Nope, my dummy cells import correctly, but thanks for the reply ;)

Probably.. :)

I knew that problem existed on NTSC no-cce files but didn't think it would effect PAL.

I'll have to double check that routine.. This shouldn't effect anything though so I wouldn't worry about it

I went ahead and exported the DVD anyway, and it worked (during the multiplexing, Scenarist reported 'duration' errors again with the no-cce files, but it still managed to export the DVD successfully)! After following n1ck0s' advice (checking the angle box in BatchCCEWS) and re-encoding the files, the 'angle' error I mentioned above disappeared. So thanks alot for that n1ck0s :D

However, I've run into another problem - the subtitles for Angle 2 weren't imported into Scenarist correctly, because there was only one sub-picture stream (for two angles) being displayed in Scenarist (I think it may be something to do with ScenAid), so whenever Angle 2 is on, the subtitles aren't present anymore. But, all is well, I'm not too picky about the subtitles not being present on the 2nd angle, just thought I'd report it for someone who might take interest :) Thanks again all.
