What ever player (WMP 9, PowerDVD, BSplayer)I play avi files in, I get a lot of skipping. My video drivers are up to date. I run XP Pro, 512 Mb RAM, AMD 2400. I close all other apps, but still get the skipping. My hard drive is set to UDMA.
Any suggestions woul be weclome.
Cheers

sounds like a filter problem, give mpc a try (and use its inbuilt avi splitter), if that doesnt help see what filters its atucally using and remove them one at a time to see which one is problematic.

Thanks guys Ive tried MPC, still get the skipping, I've also just noticed it does the same when playing mp3, bascially everything skips. I'm not sure what these "Filters" sorry to appear as a bit of a newb, thought I knew what I was doing. I use an external Audigy 2NX, everything is setp to SPDIF pass through, so I can have 5.1 out of my cinema system, if this make any differnce.
Pleas help me crack this one, thanks.

This filter helped me get rid of all skipping and jerking in Xvid and Divx.
