View Full Version : Multiple Rip Problem with DVDShrink

I'm not sure whether or not I have a hardware issue but I have noticed that when using the last couple releases of DVDShink, that I am unable to rip multiple DVD's without closing the application and relaunching it. When I try to rip a second disc, I click on the Open Disc button, the disc volume appears with the correct new disc name, and I click OK but nothing happens - the disc does not spin and files are not read.

I never had this problem before with earlier versions of 3x. Is this a new known bug - or do I have a some kind of hardware/software issue (and, if so, what might it be)? For the record, this is happening in spite of having performed an XP Repair, which was done for a completely different and unrelated reason.

Thanks for your feedback.

is the DVD is the same drive?

have you tried older versions of Shrink again just to make sure it's Shrink and not your system?

if I manually press the button and open the tray and swap discs, my PC won't recognise the new disc (CD or DVD)

it's been like this for ages (well over a year) and I've been too lazy to sort it out as I just use Explorer to eject the tray's instead. By the time I get to the PC (under the stairs in the passage) the disc is ejected anyway. I may have to get up and walk but it's not as bad as hanging around for numerous seconds waiting for the damn tray to open even though you have pressed the button 10 times!

Update:

I at least found a temporary solution to my problem. I'm using 3.1.7.6 and was unable to rip successive discs without closing the application and relaunching (never had to close the app in the past...not sure when it started).

Anyway, initiating "Close All Open DVDs" under the File menu item lets me rip another DVD without closing the app. Anyone know why this is necessary, while in the past one could just pop a new DVD into the drive and press the Open Disc button?
