This has probably been answered before but my search did not find it. I have a number of mpeg2 files telecined to 23.976fps, progressive. I used them to create XVCD’s and SVCD’s which my DVD players play fine. However I have not found a DVD authoring program (TDA, DVDit, MyDVD, Nero) that will accept the 23.976 progressive files. Everything program seems to want files @29.97fps. Is it possible to use D1 (704*480) or ½ D1 (352*480)authored at 23.976fps in a DVD.

So far I have to re-encode with Tmpgenc: Settings: Video: Frame Rate: "23.976fps internally 29.97fps", Encode Mode: "3:2 pulldown when playback". The result is a slight decrease in quality (DVD player, or PowerDVD), and an increase in CPU overhead.

You can use the Tool pulldown.exe to set the Pulldown-Flag to your Video without re-encoding.

And yes, 23.976 (NTSC) with Pulldown-Flag is a valid Framerate for DVDs.
