-> The plextor 712 drive will have some Plextor Premium features, not only for cds, but also for dvds. That means you will be able to check PI, PIF and POF values for recorded DVDs, as well as Jitter (jitter is not yet possible with any home user drive!). This way, you can check pretty well which media the drive works with and which it does not like.
Also, the drive will record some 8x DVD+R media at 12x (the speed will be 6x-12x P-CAV. No crappy Z-CLV any longer). DVD-R media will be recorded at 6x-8x P-CAV.
