hi i was wondering if i would get in trouble for burning video files such as .avi or .mpg onto dvd-r's? like in trouble with the government and such...? and will other people be able to play the dvd/vcd/minidvd i made on their dvd player? and did i put this in the right place?

im sorry to be a bother to some people, im still learning..

That depends on the laws of your country. The common sense dictates that if you make profit out of someone's copyrighted work without paying the author, that's certainly illegal.

If you burn a DVD properly, you'll be able ot play them on other players. Stay away from miniDVD and VCD if compatibility is your concern.

You'd be better off putting this into Newbies forum.
