I am trying to rip a 2-episode DVD, but the software only sees the Video_TS & Audio_TS for episode one. Episode one rips fine.
Can anyone help with episode 2? (BTW, I am using a Mac, but got
the same results on a PC)

hi hawkeye49 and welcome to the forum!
could you please provide further details as to the software you are using and the method that you use.
...actually re-reading your post, i also have to ask:
are episode 1 and episode 2 on the same disk? if they are then the fact that you are seeing only one VIDEO_TS and one AUDIO_TS folder is perfectly normal as the video for both episodes will be located in the one 'VIDEO_TS' folder.
you might want to gain a better understanding of the DVD structure by looking at the guides in the DVD Basic Guides Section here:

good luck

I am new to this forum, but not new to dvd ripping,
so I do understand the DVD structure.
This is the first time I've run into this.
There is only part one in the VIDEO_TS folder, as I have
burned it, and that's all that is there.
I also loaded it into an editor, and only part one is there.
I am using DVDxDV on the Mac, and DVD XCopy on the pc.
If you view the DVD in Explorer or Finder,
there is only one VIDEO_TS file
visible. I have also viewed each of the .VOB files that are visible, and they are all part one only.

hmmm...i'm afraid i have had absolutely no experience in either of those programs so i cannot offer any guidance on their use.
what i would suggest is a couple of alternative programs -
mac:
dvdremaster by metakine
http://www.metakine.com/
they also have links to some decrypting tools for the mac.
pc:
DVDDecrypter & DVD Shrink
both guides for these pograms and links to download can be found in the doom9.org home site.
hope that helps

what dvdxcopy and all of the others like it do..... is they take the longest movie in there... be it the credits or the longest episode and copies that..... usually this is the movie so it doesn't matter.... but with episodic dvds it causes a pain.... this could be a lil more intense than you know at this point... i would reccomend dvdshrink to copy it to get both episodes.... also... if its a dvd5... you can copy it directly with dvd decrypter

My ultimate goal here is to get the video into an editor, and excerpt certain sections, along with the surround 5.1 soundtrack with the editor (Final Cut Pro). Will the two programs you suggested extract the 5.1 also???

oooooooohhhhh.... okay..... well.... what i usually use is dvd decrypter to rip the vobs.... then i use dvd2avi to demux the audio... it leaves it as a 5.1 ac3.... you can then use avisynth to port the d2v to your final cut pro i'm pretty sure

I'll give it a try. But I'm not trying to extract just the 5.1 audio.
I want the surround track with the video. My only fear is that DVDdecrypter will have the same lack of success as the other two programs I have tried. That is, they can't even see Episode two.
Thanks for the good suggestions!

if its there, dvddecrypter will find it :sly:
a *possible* simpler method to achieve what you are doing, would be to switch over to the pc and use dvddecrypter to extract the entire disc (in file mode or in iso mode) then use the re-author function of dvdshrink to select the video/audio you want then use the start/end time function to excerpt any part of the video you want.
tutorials for this can found at ddloopings excellent site:

hope that helps
