I have been trying to follow DOOM9.ORG guide to DVD-9 to DVD-5. I am currently stuck on the using CCE 2.50. I have followed all steps of "Getting the best out of CCE" to the T and when I go to analyze the results of CCE2.50 during Step 4 of the second pass a majority of the video background is grey(90%).

Here is the quote from the Guide:

"If the background is green it means good quality, gray parts mean standard image quality and red background means serious image distortion. Your goal here is to have as many green parts as possible."

I do not know if this is a process problem, hardware issue or CCE setting. Is it normal for a majority of the video to come out in Standard Quality? Can someone actually define standard quality? Am I being too greedy wanting video quality to be in green?

Here is some additional information:
PC Specs
AMD 3400 64BIT Processor
Asus K8V Deluxe Motherboard
ATI 9800 All-In-Wonder
1 200 Gig 7200 OS and other apps
2 120 Serial ATA Raid 0 - 32 Chunk (Multimedia only)
1 GIG of PC3200
1 MSI DVD Rom Drive 16x

I am trying to backup Saving Private Ryan(16:9, NTSC)

You chose a tought movie to start your encoding carrer. :)

Seems you have some homework to do. (Particularly reaing the stickies on the DVD2SVCD forums).

I can also recommend the guide on my sig for a whole picture on the green thing for a start.

/Add: I don't know if your post really belongs in the DVD2SVCD forums, but it definetely does not belong in the Advanced forum, so I moved it to basic for obvious reasons.
