DvDx 2.1 and 2.2 cutting off early no errors?

I've searched around and tried several of these free MPG converters and DvDx worked great in the past but the past month or so now will not convert a Vob or Mpg to another smaller file without simply stopping short of the end everytime.

Anyone else had similar problems? Where do I start to research this sort of weird behavior? Any ideas? :confused:

The whole button will say make it for example 200k frames but the conversion stops every time at 120k frames or somewhere like that on each movie I try to compress.

I start source is always like at 752 x 480 or whatever..
Dest is always like svcd 480 x 480 with 224k audio etc.

I want my DvD's on my hard drive in reduced size say 2gig each instead of the ripped vob size of 4-7 gig or more. This is in planning for eventually trying to build a movie PC using Windows Media Center version or something like that to put alongside my Tivo unit but now I simply can not get smaller Mpg's of DvDx any more. (at 5 gig each I cannot store very many of my movies I own a lot of dvd's)

Your expert advice is greatly appreciated. :)

hmmm would you happen to be doing NTSC ?

try after you press the "whole" button to add a heap more to the vlaue it gives. so if it says 200k make it 220k and see what that does.

oh and for vobs you should use the ifo so you are doing the whole movie in 1.

Yes I'm doing NTSC instead of PAL but in the US I thought that was standard/required on everything.

I've tried adding more to the amount of frames like 220k instead of 200k same thing on every attempted video. The progress meter has squares about 70% or 80% of the way across and it seems to think it is complete but of course its not.

I'm running Windows 2003 which is media unfriendly from what I have seen thus far. Doesnt play AVI's still and wouldnt play DVD's without installing a third party codec/decoder. Well it played them upside down natively. Very disappointing release by Microsoft overall.

I prefer to rip the DvD to a single huge Vob with Smartripper then you can usually just rename the Vob file to Mpg instead of having to mess with IFO files.

ahh i see. well DVDx doesnt like files above about 4.3gb which your single merged vob no doubt is.

let smartripper split the vobs and use the ifo as thats how DVDx was meant to be primarily used.
