hi !

I've installed xvid codec on my computer.
But I have Divx clips, and it seems
I can't play them (i've get "unknown file type" error
when trying to play them)...
I'm sure Xvid can be used to play
Divx ?
You see, I'd like to keep my computer as clean
as possible and I'd rather not install Divx codec
if Xvid can be used instead.

Thanks!

1) wrong forum
2) what player do you use?
3) what xvid build?

and yes xvid and divx4/5 are all mpeg-4 codecs, meaning all of them "should" be able to decode each other

Use ffdshow :
http://www.ligh.de/software/mirrors.phtml
http://athos.leffe.dnsalias.com/

It has its own issues but is able to decode DivX 3 / 4 / 5 and more ;)
