I have a TDK 440N with the latest firmare, and I have been burning normally untill on 2 occasions, both nero(6.3) and burnatonce stopped burning. On both occasions I had to reinstall windows to get thing working.
I'm not sure, but I was thinking that there are some movies that have special protection that block the burner once someone tries to burn them. (the 2 movies are dune2000 and hustler, i didn't try to burn them since).
I can't find any setting I changed or any software I installed that would interfere with the burning process. I tried to burn different dvds and all of them are spoiled. the dvds are burned till about 30%, and then they are ejected.
any explanations?

No, that's certainly not a DVD protection feature. Must be your system configuration. Be sure to enable DMA for the burner in Device Manager.
By the way, please don't. cross-post (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=72164)

i didn't change the DMA setting, and didn't check if they changed. Is it possible for these setting to change by them selves ?

here we go again, I got the same problem again. I just finished instaling roxio6. DMA settings are enabled....but can't burn. It says illegal disk !!
Before installing roxio6 i had nero 6..it works fine.

If you're saying Nero 6 works fine, then you should stick with it. Also, try different media. Use rewritable discs for testing. Perform full erase of the RW in Nero and see whether it would work.
Also, if you have any software like InCD to write directly to RW in Windows explorer, remove it.

Illegal disc is usually the Princo effect

It's important for you to try different types/brands of media to solve your problem. I suggest using rewritables for testing.

Ok. I reinstalled my system again...it is good to have norton ghost.
And i tried a memorex dvd-rw. It works good.
The thing with why i use nero and roxio together, is that I like nero and i use it for almost all my burning...except that roxio have this drag'n'drop feature for dvd-/+rw, which does't seem to exist anywhere...certainly not nero if i'm right...
I guess I have to get with it without roxio.
