Can the audio from a dvd be burned to a cd.Would like to listen in my car.

Sure.
Find the DVD ripping guide somewhere in this forum, or on Doom9 main site. Follow the direction, but you can ignore the video processing section, since you're only interested in audio. When you have the audio track extracted (like AC3 file), use tools like BeSweet and convert the audio to 2-channel (stereo) WAV file @ 44.1kHz sampling rate, 16-bit precision.
Then just burn that to the CD.
...by theory, that's what needs to be done, but I've never done it myself, so I make no guarantees. :p

Also checkout BeSure as mentioned in the General Audio FAQ #11 (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=68300#post424063), using the CD-DA audio output option.
