I plan on buying the Panasonic AG-DVX100a camera in the near future, I know that Vegas 4 supports 24p (23.976) editing, does Premiere Pro support it? I've looked everywhere on the damn net but couldn't find anything that Pro supports 24p editing...I know there's an option in Pro for 23.980fps but I read that it was literally 23.980fps and NOT 23.976fps that I prefer. thanks in advance

Premiere does not support 23.976 for some reason.

that sucks...so Premiere Pro isn't really a Professional program then...I guess im stuck using Vegas 4 and Avid...thats not so bad

Premiere Pro does support importing 23.976 video for use as the source. It will by default import it wrong but then you can right click on the video and interpret footage and specify a specific frame rate.

tried it didnt work...i imported a 23.976fps avi file and the audio was lower due to the audio khz rate change - it's a waste of time trying to fix the audio when, Avid, Vegas 4, FCP supports it fine. im staying away from Premiere until Adobe gets their act together....Calling Adobe Premiere "Pro" is an oxymoron since it does not support 23.976 which is a professional frame rate...thank you for your help anyways

i think the reason why premiere doesnt natively support 23.976 fps is because it isn't a truly native format. ntsc film plays at 29.97 fps, but some fields have been duplicated to create extra frames to make it compatible with ntsc. if you removed the duplicates and slowed the film down appropiately, you would get the 23.976 fps, that you're referring to.
anyway, the purpose of 24p on your camera is to give it the film look. if you want to put it on a dvd or video (which sounds like what you want to do), edit it at 24p and then use the telecine process (which is what film undergoes to play it on ntsc) to run it at 29.97 fps.

i know it isnt a native format but it would be nice...i know you can use a proggy called dvfilm maker to convert 2:3:3:2 pulldown for editing with premiere @24p...but the then the audio is 48048 Hz...then you'll have to the audio to 48khz again...what a pain in the @$$...hopefully adobe will get their s@#t together in the next release and support 2:3 and 2:3:3:2 pulldown like Adobe After Effects does

Premiere Pro 1.5 which will be released next month is supposed to finally support this, along with bugfixes and a ton of great new features.
