Hi all,
I have unistalled the older XviD package I was using and I am trying the latest one but I have a strange error I never saew before

Using AutoGK, when in the Advanced Settings I try to select XviD it says: "XviD is not installed DivX will be used instead"

Using GordianKnot if I try to recompress a 1400Mb AVI into a single 700Mb file when I open the AVI GK says: "File is not a valid dvd2avi project, avi or avs file!"

Note that everything work smoothly if I open an AVI compressed with DivX, I have this error only if the source AVI is an XviD one

Also starting from a DivX AVI anc creating an XviD version everything works...

I am 100% sure that XviD is intalled, I tryed also installing the standalone decoder from Nic but nothig has chaged

I tried to search in the forum before posting but it seems I am the only one with this error :(

I'd like to help but I don't know how, if I can do anything let me know

Thanks a lot for the help!!!

I thought AutoGK didn't support devapi4 builds of XviD?

Does XviD show up as a compression option in say VDub/VDubmod?

Hello, thanks for the reply

If AutoGK doesn't support dev4 apis, then I understand why I have this problem...

Yes, using Vdub/VdubMod I can choose XviD as compressor, and I can set all the parameters

I didn't tried (yet) to re-compress an AVI using directly Vdub but I think it will work

I am quite sure XviD is correctly installed...

And I can re-compress an AVI made with DivX using XviD as new codec (I prefer Xvid!!!)

The night is becoming darker...

I just tried the same using only VDubMod
It is quite strange...
The original is XviD
XviD -> DivX - Error
Xvid -> XviD - OK

This with VDubMod, GKnot gives an error as soon as I open the AVI

I just tried to clean up my system with the latest registry cleaner from Koepi but nothing has changed (do I ahve to unistall the codecs before???)
