Warning: Virus emails supposedly coming from Doom9.net

If you receive an email with the following header:

Warning about your e-mail account.

And body:

Dear user of Doom9.net,

Our antivirus software has detected a large ammount of viruses outgoing
from your email account, you may use our free anti-virus tool to clean up
your computer software.

Please, read the attach for further details.

do NOT!!!! open the attachment, delete the mail ASAP. As with other viruses that have been going around, this is a cheap trick to make you believe you're getting something legitimate. I'm the only person who can send emails with a @doom9.net address, and I would never send out unsolicited emails, let alone with attachments. If you get the mail and think I'm infected, or my mailserver, I suggest you check out the mail header and find out who the real curprit is.

I received the same email, but with mpucoder.com as the "source" and "team". I wonder if each email is tailored to the destination domain.

so this virus is sent out to people that like to make use of 'fair use' but it also spreads via P2P networks, and it allows hackers to take control of your computer -- are these RIAA's new tactics?

please check today's news, there's more info about this. It has nothing to do with ripping sites, the virus just picks domainnames from your addressbook.
