I was wondering if anyone in the forum has some inside knowledge on likely availability dates and prices for dual layer DVD+R? Looks like Philips is launching the first dual layer burner in April so I am keen to know if I will be investing early or not. If the blank prices are initially rip off levels (like the first DVD+R's were) I will be waiting for the innevitable price drop.

Ive not heard anything about the media prices, but its going to be new technology to the mainstream so id expect prices to be crazy for the first 3 months and then come down.

Give it a year after launch and then id bet you could get a fast dual layer recorder for under £100.

Verbatim will try to launch their dvd+r9 disc by June.

I don't think it will be "rip off" levels, but then again that we all tend to have completely different ideas of what a rip off is; ie. we bitch and moan when gasoline hits $2 a gallon yet we're not complaining about paying $3 for a 12 ounce espresso drink at Starbucks.

lol just to say, $2 a gallon!

im in the uk, so its about $0.50 a litre, now theres summit that is a rip off :(
