Hi,
is it possible to copy all contents of a dvd-9 or something to a dvd-r with compressed quality (of course)?
I think especially on menus.
Merci

yes, but you should look in the forums and the guides before asking a question thats been answered (a lot)
If you want the short explanation, id say use smartripper to rip the disc and then use dvdshrink with nero and all the works done for u

Wel ive always used dvd shrink and the quality always seems gr8 even on my 602 plasma so i see why you would need to improve on that?
But if you want to use dvd2dvd have you read the guide
here? (http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/mpg/dvd2svcd-dvdr.htm)
Or if you could expand your question then i could help more.

ok,
i have the season1 box from the x-files with 4 episodes. all about 45 minutes and i want to put it on one dvd with menu...
with dvd-shrink etc. i will get about 50% of quality, thats bad...
so i wanna try dvd2dvd to get a better quality..
are there chances to reach this?
thanks for your help...

I assume you are trying to keep the original menus...
Well, AFAIK currently there is not an automatic tool to do this (may be in a short future :) ), but you can do it manually using IFOEdit and/or IFOUpdate.
Basically, this is the procedure:
- Encode and generate new VOBs for each title using D2S (I use mdvdauth plugin, but I suppose you can also use Scenarist)
IFOUPDATE method:
- Substitute the old VOBs with the new ones and apply IFOUpdate for each IFO.
IFOEDIT method:
- Substitute the old VOBs with the new ones and run VOB-extras (no stripping) for each substituted VOB.
Be careful with VobId/Cellid numbers
But, these methods not always are so simple, because PGCs are not always uniq in the VTS, chapters are not always equal to cells, etc... You need to have some knowledge on DVD/IFOs structures.

The other thing to consider is that dvd shrink will reduce the quality to the necessary amount to fit onto a disc. So maybe your trying to get too higher quality onto too smaller space if you get me?
Possibly its worth splitting the disc into 2 and re-authoring the menus?
Or another idea may be to go into the re-author section of dvdshrink and remove the menus/extras from the disc so you just have the episodes at the best quality you can fit to the disc.

Probably not one for newbies but the Big 3 of Reauthorist, DoCCE4U and DoItFast4U, along with Scenarist, IFOupdate and DVDDecryptor gives you the best of everything - recompress to DVDR size with CCE, keep original menus, DVD structure and so on.
