View Full Version : Problem with low framerates in RC3

I'm having a problem with low frame rates in two movies I just encoded.

While playing with WMPC, my CPU use hovers around 50%, but I'm getting variable frame rates of between 16 FPS and 23 FPS (the source frame rate).

Both were encoded at AS @ L5 with the following options:

H.263
QPEL
GMC
B-VOPS
2
1.50
1.00
Packed Bitstream
Closed GOV

Motion search: 6
VHQ: 1
Chroma Motion
Turbo
Quant Restrictions
2
31
2
31
2
31

FourCC: XVID

I'm using ffdshow as my decoder, with none of the processing settings enabled.

Although the movie runs at the right speed and synchs with the audio correctly when I mux it (this bug occurs whether or not I have muxed the audio), it is jerky, as if there were dropped frames. However, WMPC does not report any dropped frames.

I looked around the board but I couldn't find anything. Can anyone give me an explanation?

Thanks

This is already a known problem, use xvid as the decoder and you should be just fine. ffdshow is known to have a problem with more then 1 b-frame with packed bitstream. Next time you should probably search a bit more, otherwise a mod will get on you.

get the most recent build in this thread: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=71653

when you have a question, there is a sticky faq thread on top of the forum. at the beginning of the post there's a link to crusty's faq which covers also xvid 1.0 questions.
