Has anyone experienced this with DVD shrink? I pattern of backup is I usually choose only 1 audio for the main movie, and then I keep all the subtitles b/c they take so little space. However, for some reason, I've been able to only play the first subtitle of the movie (usually english), but not the other subtitles. The subtitle menu shows that there should be other subtitles in the movie, but if subtitle #2,3,4,etc gets turned on, no subtitle appears. This has been happening with DVD shrink 3.0 and 3.1. Does anyone have a solution for this?
Thanks for your response.

Maybe this thread (http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=32884&highlight=subtitles+not+displaying) can give you some insight to your problems. Now my question to you is...does it happen with a certain DVD or for all your backups?

Thanks for responding,
I read the other thread in its entirety. It doesn't really solve my problem. My problem is a bit different as well. Unlike the other problems other people encountered, my first subtitle of the movie (usually english) works fine, but if I switch to the other subtitles, they don't show up. This is happens with all my DVD's that are backuped via DVD shrink. I'm thinking it is a problem in the IFO file. I'm not sure where to even start in correcting this. If you have anything suggestions, don't hesitate to share it. Thanks

I haven't experienced this. I just checked, and all subtitles are selectable on my player, and they show up fine. This is true for both re-author and full disk back ups.

Do you have this problem on multiple DVDs, or just a few? The reason I ask is that some DVDs have 'sparse' subtitle tracks. For example, on The Matrix, there is a subtitle (or more accurately, an overlay graphic) stream for follow the white rabbit mode. There are only 8 or 10 overlays in this stream, so if you switched to it, you could easily get the impression DVDShrink messed it up - but if you waited long enough you'd see one of the little rabbits.

So far, it's been happening with all my dvd's. In fact, I check the original disc, and there are no hidden subtitle streams that I know of in these dvds. The strange thing is if I play these dvd's on my computer, the subtitles show up without a problem. This means the subs are in the disc, but for some reason, the standalone player is not able to bring them up (the non-english ones for that matter). I tried this on a pioneer and on a portable panasonic player, the result is the same, only the first sub is playable. I tried changing the 4:3 pan scan vs letterbox, no difference. I didn't have a problem with this when I used dvd2one. I think my next step is to backup the same dvd from both these programs, and then checking for any differences in the ifo files. Keep me posted if you have more ideas

I'm almost beginning to think something is up with your standalone. Ever tried to play any of your problem DVD on another different standalone?
