5 days waiting time b4 posting

hi there
i'm new in the forum's though not in doom9.
anyways...
first time I registered, i got an email saying i've to wait for 5 days before posting something.

well okay i check doom9.org everyday but its not like i'm always thinking about it. when i read an article, i want to comment on it or ask questions.

now the day i registered something that i wondered was in the front page. 5 days later i had forgotten that I even registered to doom9, hopefully i saw the email..

I very much understand and appriciate that there is a time gap between posting & registering due to lots of reasons, but could it at least be 1 day or something..
5 days, I've too many things to take care of 5 days. and I don't feel like writing what i want to say in the forums to a post-it...

I know its not a big deal, now that i registered for it, but it might be annoying for new ppl..

other than this I love doom9 :)

well.. the entire measure is definitely not up for discussion. We know it's not the best solution, but it's one that works. We've had a lower treshold but frankly, only increasing it to 5 days really made a sizeable difference in user behavior. Even a 3 day period (that's what we initially had) wasn't quite enough.

It also effectively enforces a minimum 5 day ban on any hot heated mal-contents whom cop a ban, they can not just log in under a new name (unless they nave already registered a few "spares" of course!)
