Hi all...

I am using DVD2AVI, as instructed by the "AVI to DVD" guide, to build .d2v project files of my .avi files before I encode to MPEG video with TMPG. Unfortunately DVD2AVI always crashes on my computer when i try to save the project files; i've tried different versions with no luck.
Anyway, the question is why do i need to use .d2v files instead of the .avi files themselves and is there an alternative program that can help me?

Thank you!

I think you should take another look at the guide as you don't use DVD2AVI when going from AVI to DVD.

(if you care) it does actually tell you in the guide to use dvd2avi. Go to http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/mpg/avi2dvdr.htm then the "encode in TMPG" link under section 3 and the first thing it says is "before you can start digging into TMPG you have to create a DVD2AVI project of your movie." Thanx for your help tho it works fine when i leave out this step.:p
