printable media

greetings, I was in comp usa yesterday and saw memorex 100 pk dvd+r printable media !! and they had a epson stylus printer r300($179.00)
you can print right on the disc! has anyone tried this? one of the guys there said he has one, and the printer has been out 4 months. he said he loves it hell not go back to lables again.

I know there have been a lot of threads in the forum about to label or not to label dvd's I didn't have problems to start with but I have had some a few weeks later. I bought memorex cd/dvd labels 300 pk and now don't use them I just use a water based dvd marker to write with.

but seeing theese printable dvd's sounds good. thanks in advance for any help.

also I have only seen memorex printable disc in comp usa and best buy. sales person at comp said i could use any dvd disc? so I tried it...:angry: looked ok but not great seems like the background is clear and only the picture is printed so if theres any gaps in the picture you see the disc and writing like dvd+r or the name brand and so on. eaven the disc are transparent looking

Once you start printing your own disc you will never go back. You can make very professional looking disc.
I have the epson 900 and wouldn't trade it for anything.
Media on the other hand is a bit more complicated.
Not all printable surfaces are created the same.
Some media it will take days for the ink to dry. While others dry very quickly.
And its not the diff from one brand to the next, but instead from one batch to the next. Some disc will come out perfect, while other disc will come out almost translucent. While still others the ink wont even absorb in some spots on the disc. Very frustrating. And all the disc are ritek G04.

But it is still very fun!

I usually use ritek g04 4x minus printable (tubs of 25)
Its always dry out of the printer
and has a very good colour.

Verbatim 4x minus printable in jewel cases
is also very good, dry out of the printer
and you can print right to the centre.

Avoid Mirror, ink never drys and colour is faint.
