xvidcore.dll missing

damn.

I had XviD 1.0 RC2 installed (from koepi's homepage) but movie playback was quite jerky.

so I decided to uninstall that and go with an older build from nic's page (16/07/03).

unfortunately nothing can now be rendered :-(

I keep getting reports that xvidcore.dll is missing.

what I'd like to know is...

what have I done wrong?

how can I resolve it?

I used to use ffdshow but I also noticed that sometime the frames would stutter (it would not be a constant flow on highbit rate scenes). I fixed this problem by uninstalling all codecs except XVID RC2 and installing:installing Latest standalone decoder DirectShow filter (installer) (http://koepi.roeder.goe.net/) Hope that helps

I also tried the latest ffdshow and that still has the problem

thanks. no more errors, but video playback is all greeny purple and garbled :-(

if you use ZoomPlayer for Playback the right click in the window and then on Filter Properties - XVID and then select "No Force" for output colourspace. If it is set to YUV12 and the video is not encoded in YUV12 then it goes all green. Anyone correct me if i am wrong

uninstalled all, then re-installed nic's 16/07/03 build.

no more errors when attempting to render a file (GSpot says it's fine) but WMP won't actually play anything.

the file loads up OK, but nothing happens. it says it's playing, but the screen is just blank and the slider doesn't move.

jeez - why did I play around with this! :-)

For me ZoomPlayer is the best player for DivX. You can try the standard version, Don't forget to follow my thread again to change the colorspace. http://www.inmatrix.com/files/zoomplayer_beta.shtml

it played, but was jerky. this was very noticeable when the camera was panning from left to right, for example.

a friend is using the older build from nic's page, and it plays fine.

I realise that there could be many other variables in this, but the xvid codec would seem to be the most obvious.

I may have to set my divx codec for the xvid fourcc.

it should play then, right?

or am I confused about what fourcc means? (I'm a newbie to all this, if you couldn't guess :-)

As far as I know the FourCC is setup when you encode a movie. I dont know if you have encoded it yourself but it could be a combination of encoding with beta builds.

"FourCC used at the default of XVID. Changing it would allow you to use the DivX4 or DivX5 playback filter but there still are some incompatibilities so using another setting is not recommended"

right - another uninstall, and now installed the latest 1.0 RC3 build from koepi's homepage.

it plays again - and with no jerkiness at all!

no idea what was making it jerky, but someone did - and it seems as though they've fixed it :-)
