encoding a avi to mpeg i get this

before the actual encoding i get a thing that goes through the movie as if it where encoding but it says "analyzing". is there a way i can stop it from analyzing, or what else can i do?

You have the encoder set for 2 pass vbr. It will always analyze the entire avi before proceeding. The only way around it is cbr. If the file was perviously encoded with xvid or divx ect. it may not need 2 pass or vbr.

To encode to mpg, the encoder again needs to analyze the video stream in order to see where bits can be saved and where bits need to be spend for optimum quality within a fixed file length (= determined by your average bitrate setting). Want optimum quality within a fixed file length? VBR is the only optimal approach. Only if you can set your average bitrate to 2200 or above, you can go for a one pass encode without much risk for big artefacts in rapid motion scenes.

im so confused, all i want to do is convert the avi into a dvd. anyone recomend a dvd author or how to get tmpg stop analyzing?
