Suggestion for ZONES

I have a suggestion for the 'zones' settings in future XviD releases.
If I want to use ie. 4 grayscale zones somewhere in the movie, I also have to define 5 other zones as 'normal' [weight 1.0 etc.]. This seems like an unnecessary complication to me. If the zone had start frame + end frame, everything between two zones could be counted as 'normal settings' and we wouldn't have to define so many zones. I don't know how difficult it would be to do this, just thought it would be more simple for the user.

Sounds more like you want one zone to be considered the 'default' zone and other zones as exceptions. I guess it could be done, but it probably requires an overhaul of the zone system.

Sounds quite useful to me - though I would say 'for XviD 1.1' ;)
They're already not adding features anymore but just fixing final bugs to get XviD 1.0 out.

It would be nice if the configuration for the individual zone settings had a checkbox next to the "end frame" field. If you check the checkbox and enter an ending frame for the zone, then when you click OK for that zone, the GUI will just add two new zones to the list. The second zone that's added will begin just after first zone (the one you just configured), and will have identical settings to the immediately previous zone that came before the new one.

I hope that explanation isn't too confusing, I was trying to choose exact language to describe it.

Special cases: If there's only one zone entered in the list and you're editing it and enter an end frame for it, the GUI will add a second zone, but it will have identical settings to the zone that you just configured.

I think these additions would streamline the configuring of zones quite well, without actually changing anything about how zones work.
