After using Smartripper or DVD Shrink to rip my DVDs, I have a problem burning with my Iomega Dual DVD Burner.
It starts the process, then error message says, anable to continue due to Illegal Medium.
I am getting a little frustrated

Please Help

have you checked www.dvdrhelp.com to see if the media you bought is compatible with your burner?

furthermore, did you check if there's an firmware update availablefor your burner?

what burning software do you use?

Have done all this,Still the same, seems to be that Medium is what is on the disk being copied, not the DVD-R as I have Used these disks for other storage.
Also when I try to rip from my recorder it says the same thing. Ripping from my DVD rom OK.

any IDEAS

What program do you use for burning? Try different software, Nero for example. There is a Disc Info button there, it will show you type of the media in the drive. Since you have two drives, maybe you selected DVD-ROM as a burner by mistake.

No, I did not use my DVDrom by mistake and this problem occurs after I begin to burn, it actually burns the folders Audio TS and Video Ts but they are empty.
Also, I have used Nero, latest version.

any one have any clues.

First, be sure you enabled DMA mode for the burner in Windows settings (Device Manager). Then try some more things in Nero:

1. Use different media (DVD+RW or DVD-RW);
2. Insert a disc and press Ctrl+I to view disc info. Is the disc type and other information correct?
3. Perform full erase of the rewritable disc and see if any errors come up;
4. Create a new compilation in DVD-ROM(UDF) mode rather than DVD-Video. Set "No multisession" and "Force DVD-Video..." on UDF tab. You'll have to create VIDEO_TS folder yourself or drag it from Explorer along with other files. Try to burn a DVD this way.

Post back your findings.
