I already read the other posts for problems with Columbia Tristar movies, but don't know if this is the same problem.

DVD shrink has no problems (no error messages, anyway) when I try to burn a movie to an image on to my Hard Drive. However, whenever movies are copied, the actual movie file is usually split into several 1 gig .VOB files. The problem with Columbia Tristar movies is that the first couple 1 gig VOB files have no sound. I have tried everything as posted before, and have tried using DVDdecrypter, but nothing seems to work.

I thought this might be due to the fact that the beginning of all new Columbia Tristar movies are silent (The part that actually shows it's a columbia tristar movie). Maybe this is creating the problem, but I don't know. Donnie Brasco is an older CT movie, and that opening sequence has sound. Coincidentally, this copies without any problems.

Does anyone have any input into the matter?

Thanks

I've never seen anything like that happen.

I usually rip in File Mode with DVD Decrypter. I select All Files. And then I do everything in DVD Shrink (sometimes with TitleSet Blanker and IfoEdit).

Maybe you are unselecting an audio stream that you shouldn't be? I find it useful in DVD Shrink to not make settings by clicking the titles (Menu, Main Movie, Extras) but opening those folders up and making selections based on each Title. That way I am sure that each Title has the correct audio and subtitles that I want.

Also, I have DVD Shrink set to select all audio and subtitles, not just those of a particular language. A couple of times, I had forgetten to check this and ended up having no audio as DVD Shrink hadn't selected titles it "should have."

So all I can recommend is set to DVD Shrink to select all audio and subtitles by default (regardless of language), then go through by each title and make sure what you want is selected.

Hope that helps you.

I have the same problem.. And I use Scenarist to re author... But when i just try listening to the audio file it works just fine. And all the new columbia have the same problem. DVD shrink yields the same results.

Open up one of your problem VOB in VobEdit and see if there are any Audio Packs in the left section. Keep in mind the 0x?? are your audio stream numbers.
