View Full Version : BeSweet output twice as fast as input

I was using DVD2SVCD 1.2.1 build 3 to convert an AVI to a SVCD. So far it always worked without problems. But a few days ago I had a problem with one video. The sound was twice as fast as it was supposed to be. I checked all the different states of the audio files and recognised, that the transcoding produced a half as long, but twice a fast result (although the right time was shown during processing).
DVD2SVCD bundles an older version than the actual one available on the homepage (v1.5b19 to be exact), so I got the latest version (v1.5b25) and tried it again with teh same parameters. The result was still the same.

Here is the log my BeSweet:

This appears to me to be a problem with how the audio was extracted. Since there hasn't been any reply yet, we'll move this to D2S. I'd recommend you post your full AVI2SVCD log.

I don't think that the problem is caused by the extracted audio. I will mess around a bit with BeSweet today.

I just got an email from a guy named "tslug". He experienced the same problem:

I'm not allowed to post to the forum yet since I just registered, but I wanted to let you know what I found, and maybe you can post it as a reply to your thread on my behalf.

I experienced the exact same problem, and I noticed that it was trying to encode my 44.1KHz source at 48KHz. So I changed it and ran BeSweet manually to do a 44.1KHz encode, and the resulting mp2 was exactly correct. Here's my BeSweet log:

So I opened a command prompt and pasted this: C:\DVD2SVCD\BeSweet\BeSweet.exe -core( -input J:\escape\Encoded_audio_1.mp2.wav -output J:\escape\Encoded_audio_3.mp2 -logfile J:\escape\Encoded_audio_1.log ) -ota( -g max ) -shibatch( --rate 44100 ) -2lame( -e -b 160 -m s )

and it worked fine. Maybe checking "Downsample to 44.1" in DVD2SVCD will prevent this from happening?

HTH.

Well..I played a little bit around and first I thought it might be because of mono -> stereo transcoding. But the output was still 33min. So I tried to remove the frequency conversion and the result was OK. Maybe it's the shibatch filter and mono files.

DVD2SVCD can be real choosy when it comes to AVI inputs.

I always run any AVI's through Virtualdub first, to convert the audio to uncompressed stereo 48khz and correct the framerate if need be.
