Hi, I have been using these settings for the last few days and I have got about 50 percent success on the sizing of the first pass (i.e. no need for second pass):
GOP 3/4, Sample size 2 percent, below 3 percent, above 0.4 percent (same as the cut image parameter), adjust Q 0.5.
It would be interesting if some of you can also provide systematic similar data to converge into something optimal.

my last encode (the first in a rather long time without encoding) was at 98,7% opv!
settings: gop 3/5; sample size 1%; limit 3%<>1%; adjustQ 1,0;
will have a look at my next encodes with these settings!

I must be getting somewhere around 50% one pass only(doing almost all DVD)
I use: GOP 3/4, sample size 2%, limit 2.5%< >0.2%, adjustQ 0.5
I found changing the adjust Q from 1.0 to 0.5 really made a big difference to the success rate.

Have you tried bigger samples?

@r6d2, gave smaller samples a go after reading you and Tylo arguing about it:), without much luck accuracy wise......Have to try bigger.
GOP's to 12.....Yes it's deliberately in my CCE templates for D2SRoba to smooth out the frame sizes(or something like that?). I have no idea if it's really worthwhile or not.

Anyway, you don't need to change the templates. That setting is modified by DVD2SVCD AFAIK.

I thought the settings in the CCE templates took precedent over the settings in DVD2SVCD(although the values on the encoder tab still appeared in the log)? I seem to remember people complaining that the templates were being ignored based on what was in DVD2SVCD's log?
All that modifying of different templates for nothing!

Please do me a favor, just so everyone gets out of doubt... Use a template with GOP12 and change the settings in DVD2SVCD to 15. Then look at the CCE_Project_file.ecl generated by DVD2SVCD and search for the GOP parameters... Which ones take precedence?
I did it and it worked, but it may just be my version, which is an unreleased beta.

I think the key is like you say, not greyed out.
Will give the GOP test a go when I get a moment and report in.
EDIT: You are right, did a quick test.....GOP values are from DVD2SVCD, not my template.
At least adjusting the settings in DVD2SVCD to match my templates (just in case) wasn't fruitless....

Sorry if I make a question that is already made, but I've made a search and have some doubts:
1- Can D2SRoba make only a single pass (1pass OPV) ?
2- If yes, how can I configure setting to do that ?
3- Everytime search of Q value starts with 32. If I "know" that is a small value, is it possible to change the first value of Q ?
I already used D2SRoba before, but I'd like to use it "faster".
Thanks,
Alexandre

I've made a search and have some doubts
Everytime when I have some doubt about something I read posts, FAQs, search and so on.
Unfortunately, sometimes I need to ask even after spending time here and there, just because I donīt understand such thema.

1. yes
2. uncheck 'Conditional sizing pass'
3. using 'auto' will use the Q in 'Auto Q' as first, otherwise 32 - which is a good starting value, there is no need to change that.
