View Full Version : What's so bad about Divx 5 decoding Divx 3?

I saw the post "Make DivX5 NOT play DivX3.11 content, the solution!" and I'm curious to know the reason why Divx 5 is not a good decoder for Divx 3?

until version 5.5
you could encounter horrible decoding problems on particular samples...

And since divx 5.X registers directly over 3.3 for decoding
it was not very interresting...

Now those problems have been solved, but if I were you,
i'll still decode using divx 3.3 as it is the native decoder...
(it is used to check quality of the encoded version vs the original
if antish!t/quality error prevention option is set during a nandub encode...)

The 5.1.1 decoder adds a few nice performance options if you play with the configuration tool :)

esby,

Do you have any of theses samples ?
Last time we test, the output of our decoder was 100% identical than the original 3.11 on more than 150 hours of contents !

Well as i said,
the problem was corrected,
I don't know when exactly (version) but when i checked back again
with version .5 the problem was gone.

I think i still have the samples but i'm not @home here...
i checked my dummy webpage, there are still linked there:

If you are talking of other possibles samples (?)
i would be able to answer after monday.
