Hello !

I tried this instruction by sPeziFish
http://212.63.136.4/extern_guides/DVD2SVCD_spezifish/index.html
But I have some problems mit D2SRoBa.

The length of the film is 1h 21min, so I adjust the Bitrate for this lenght. I used 75 min until 85 min.
After this i closed DVD2SVCd and started D2SRoBa. And this adjust the Bitrate only for 1 CD. And I controlled the Bitratesettings at DVD2SVCD and D2SRoBa has changed all settings :-(
0 - 92 min 1CD
92 - 138 min 2CD
and so on --> WHY?

OK, I tried it again.
Start DVD2SVCD, i adjusted all settings
Closed DVD2SVCD
Start D2SRoBa, and see. it has changed all my Bitratesettings.
So I changed the settings for my conditions, and start DVD2SVCD, but D2SRoBa will make a 1 CD film -> WHY ??

I used the same settings like here http://212.63.136.4/extern_guides/DVD2SVCD_spezifish/index.html

I only changed the Bitrate for my conditions!

Many Thanks

It seems your problems are caused by sPeziFish's guide (which is excellent otherwise). The bitrate settings in DVD2SVCD do not apply if you use D2SRoBa. You only specify the number of CDs in D2SRoBa, not in DVD2SVCD. D2SRoBa will always alter the D2S bitrate settings, and you are not supposed to touch these settings if you started D2S through D2SRoba. The only setting you should change in the D2S bitrate tab is to untick the "Warn if max bitrate is too high" box because D2SRoba takes care of this automatically.

Hope this helps,

I´ve read, that D2SRoba try to fill your CD to 100%

The lenght of my film is only 82 minutes.
To short for 2 CD´s
To long for 1 CD

But the characteristic of D2SRoBa is to fill your CD to 100% an so I get 1 CD with 1000 kb/s -> And that is not very pretty ;-)
I used the "auto" setting for CD numbers!

Now I said, make 2 CD´s, and now D2SRoBa haven´t made an Q value check ?
And now it converts with CBR ?

These are the current settings. It converts now the film!

It seems to me that you have to do some reading first. I would suggest you start with the D2SRoBa FAQ under http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=64886

In your case D2SRoBa is doing exactly what it is supposed to do. When you use D2SRoBa you should not think in terms of bitrate any more, but of Q value instead. An encode with a bitrate of 1000 kbit/s may look ugly if the source is a high action movie which has a bad compressability. If the source is a documentary with very little action, an encode with the same bitrate may look very good.

So if you use D2SRoBa in Auto mode, you have to specify a value for "Auto Q". This is the minimum quality you can live with. So if you specify a Q of 30 for Auto Q, D2SRoBa will test if a 1 CD encode will have a Q of 30 or lower. If it has, it will select 1 CD, if Q is above 30 it will select the number of CDs that will give you a value of Q that is equal or lower than 30.

For your current encode you did not select "Auto" but specified 2 CDs instead. The resulting bitrate is quite high. In the D2SRoBa window there is a setting for "Max. Average Offset", the default is 300. If your bitrate is less than 300 lower than the maximum bitrate, D2SRoBa will switch to CBR instead of OPV which normally is what you should do at high bitrates close to the maximum bitrate. If you prefer OPV no matter what, just adjust the value for Max avg offset.

:thanks: manolito, :helpful:

You know, Frankster, lot of people put a quite significant effort in creating that FAQ. When you read it, if there's still anything you don't get, please let me know in order to improve it.
