I currently use dvd2one for compressing dvd's and 90% of the time it works fine....however, when the dvd is large in size (7gb) and above the dialog box that allows you to choose the compression amount ie. file size down to 3/3.5/4gb is not accurate at all. An example is the 'lion king' movie which is about 8gb in size an to get it to compress I had to select a file size of 1.5gb..and that ended with an actual file size of 4.2gb. Is there a more accurate way of doing it as I would like to copy the whole disc.

i think this better goes into the 'one click backup' forum...

DVDhrink is dead accurate.
The mentioned file size is probably the video only - as the AC3 cannot be compressed.
You may have far to many audio tracks if the video needs to be 1.5 Giga.
Shrink also gives you the Video Size but the status bar at the top shows the total output - sensible / practical programming.

Thanks, I do use DVD Shrink and find it good to get the movie down to exactly 4.7 but, find it usually does this by removing the 5.1 sound when the whole disc is large in size...tis is why I've been using dvd2one but can't get the accuracy.

Pretty sure, unless I'm reading the dialog box wrong....menu and extras take up very little space and in the 'movie' section the only other ones not ticked are either foreign languages or the 5.1 dts audio box and it usually takes up 1 to 1.5gb in size???
