I have mentioned this again and in other forums and until today I havenīt find the solution for this problem, so I decided to spend more time and write a step by step guide for the things I have made until now with the following software: a) DVD Decrypter , and b) DVD Shrink 3.1.5.

1. I use my stand alone Dvd recorder to record a movie from TV. ( I have the DVD settings in SP, that means near 120 min in a blanc DVD)

2. After the and of my recording I take the DVD RW from the Dvd recorder, and I put it in my computerīs Dvd drive.

3. I create a new file I call "MOVIE WITH SPOTS" and 2 more files in it, the "AUDIO_TS" file, and the "VIDEO_TS" file.

4. I start DVD Decrypter ( because I want to move the movie files in my hard disc where I want to modify them, and get rid the commercials breaks ) .I select als Source my computerīs Dvd drive, and as destination the C:\MOVIE WITH SPOTS\VIDEO_TS

5. In DVD Decrypter main screen, I choose MODE > FILE and then again on main screen I choose EDIT > SELECT ALL (well not all because the first file is not acceptable, like it is not exists- by the way what is this??- It is NOT EVEN recognised from windows like it is not exists) ,and then again on main screen FILE > DECRYPT. After that, Decrypter starts.

6. When the transfer ends, I close DVD Decrypter, and I open DVD Shrink 3.1.5.

7. In DVD Shrink main screen, I choose Re-author, and then

8. I select als the "title 1"(that is the only title for the time) from the main movie file from C:\MOVIE WITH SPOTS\VIDEO_TS, and I pass this in the left side of the screen in the "DVD structure" area.

9. Now I want to get rid off the TV commercials, so I have to work my title with "set Start/End frames". When I finished with the first commercial break, I replay the step 8 so many times as the commercial breaks are -usually 3 maximal 4 times- and when Iīm done with it.....

10. I make one left click on the DVD folder under the text "DVD Structure", and in the right side of the screen I choose "Compression Settings". I do not want any compression so I change the >VIDEO from AUTOMATIC into NO COMPRESSION.

11.Finally, I am pressing the "Backup!" button and I choose my dvdr drive as the record device and I am waiting approximately 6 minutes for the Encoding, and 13 minutes for the dvd recording.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
000000. When I play the new DVD that I make and it reaches the point where the commercials were, it freezes the screen for 1/2 second and then continues to play until the next point of where the commercials were. Another strange thing happening is with the skip buttons of my Dvd. It can goes front, but it can never goes back ( !! ).
These symptoms are happening in other devices as well. Untill today I had experienced the same problems in 5 different stand-alone dvd devices, and 3 computer dvd and dvdr drives.

Does anyone knows why is this problem occurs ?
Does anybody knows other paths to follow but with better results ??

Thank you all for your time..............

Unfortunately, you won't be able to get good results with your method. You problems occur because DVD Srink creates a new title in a separate titleset for each fragment of the video between commercials. You can notice that after each part title counter increments by 1, not chapter counter as you would expect. Therefore, neither Previous nor Next buttons have to work.

I can recommend trying TMPGEnc DVD Author (http://www.pegasys-inc.com/en/product/tda.html) (TDA). It accepts both DVD-Video and DVD-VR as a source. Again, you'll have to add your video several times and cut out each piece between commercials. The result will have still minor interruptions at the break points. However, in this case you can get rid of them easily. Use VobEdit (http://www.doom9.org/Soft21/Vobtools/Vobedit06.zip) to demux all video and audio streams from VTS_01_1.VOB produced by TDA. You'll get one .m2v and one .mpa file. Create a new DVD in TDA using these two files, and it will play perfectly smooth. You can add chapters in TDA if required.

By the way, I really don't see why do you use DVD Decrypter. You should be able to simply copy your DVD files to hard drive in Windows Explorer.

dimmer you are great !!
Thank you for the idea.

Until now its the better result Iīve got and I am only on the first step ( TDA author> removing commercials > reconstructing the DVD )
.The result is better BUT it still freezes a little bit (you told me that too!). So I decided to go deeper in the project, but I am having problems again!!
After the construction of the .m2v and .mpa files from VobEdit it was impossible to compile the final step ( create the Dvd file on disc with TDA ) because it hangs all the time !! (the first time in 15%, the second in 20%, the third in 13% etc.)
I have also tried to make a change in the Audio settings area : I have marked the "Re-encode the audio using the output format of the track", but the situation remains the same.

THERE IS ONLY ONE VERY STRANGE THING I noticed now, but I can not explain : In the bottom side of the screen is the purple bar with the "capacity of the created DVD".
It indicates in the right side that I am having 3195 from the 4438 and that is normal because the movie that I am having is aproximmately 1 hour and 45 minutes. What is not normal is that in the middle of the screen is the yellow part showing my Clip 1 ": VTS_01_1.m2v" and under it is the clipīs time : "15min 35sec" (!!!!!). After that I drunk a bottle of wine and then a second (just making fun, donīt believe every word you read).

Well, whats going on here ? Am I missing something ? Do I need proffesional heeeeeeeeelp ?:scared: :sly:

Similar thing happened to me once: after importing .m2v/.mpa files demuxed from the VOBs back into TDA, it showed the length of the video equal to the length of the last segment before cutting out the commercials. Here's a quick way that's likely to fix this using TMPGEnc (http://www.pegasys-inc.com/en/product/tp.html) (the original one, not DVD Author). Go to File - MPEG Tools - Merge&Cut, add your .m2v file, set output to a different .m2v file, and click Run. Then create a new TDA project, add the new video file, in the Add Clip dialog manually browse to your original .mpa audio. There is no need to change audio settings. Once you click OK, check out the clip length - it should be the same as your movie, which means you're okay. Set chapters and menu if you want, and then output the DVD.

If you're still having troubles, post back and I'll explain another longer but reliable method, which uses TDA to cut out the segments and TMPGEnc to merge them.

dimmer what can I say for you? :)

Thanks is the minimum I can give. I am gonna try this after 10 hours of sleep (at least) because Iīm beginning to remember a zombie I have seen in a movie once. Anyway something tells me that with your help this story come to an end. Iīll keep in touch !
THANKS again....:)

The things are much better now thanks to you dimmer!

I have allready made 3 movies with fantastic quality, but I am having problems to access 2 more. (Of course I have tried the VobEdit-->TmpgEnc-->TDA thing).
To be more specific I am taking back a wrong message in TDA :" Illegal audio format "this is happening when I try to pass an .mpa file into the .m2v combination of TDAīs program.
The second movie has excactly the same symptoms with the last time :Lower time measure even if I had allready tried the VobEdit-->TmpgEnc-->TDA trick.
The last time you have said something about another method.
I think that I can rely on your methods, ubtil now they are the best I tried...

Thanks in advance!

You're welcome, I'm glad I could help.

Okay, here's the method I find to be the most reliable for cutting out commercials in TDA. It has some steps that may be redundant depending on the size of your files, you'll probably figure it out as you go.

1. First, we'll cut your movie in segments between commercials. In TDA, create a new project with as many tracks as you have segments. Put your movie only once on each track. Cut out the first segment on the first track, second segment on the second track, etc. Select No Menu option and output the project.

2. TDA will create a separate titleset for each track, so your first segment will be in the file VTS_01_1.VOB, 2nd in VTS_02_1.VOB, etc. Open each of these files in VobEdit and demux video and audio streams. Note: if you have VTS_0x_2.VOB files (that'll happen if one of the segments is larger than 1Gb), don't touch them, VobEdit will take care of it. You'll get a bunch of .m2v and .mpa files, a pair for each movie segment.

3. Open TMPGEnc, go to MPEG Tools - Simple multiplex. Enter the first .m2v file as video source and first .mpa as audio source. Notice the output file name with .mpg extension. Click Run, it'll produce an MPEG file with the first movie segment. Repeat this step for all other segments. You can play these .mpg files in any software player.

4. Go to Merge&Cut, add all the .mpg files one by one in sequence. Give the output file name .mpg extension. Click Run, it will produce one huge .mpg with your movie. Create a new TDA project with this file and author your DVD.

The only downside is that sometimes the picture for a moment gets blocky at the point TMPGEnc joined the clips. You won't notice this if you have at least half a second of black at the beginning of each segment.

By now you probably noticed that TMPGEnc has ability to cut MPEGs as well as join them, but cutting here takes much longer than doing it in TDA. As for myself, after step 2 I go to Scenarist and perform the authoring there, but it's a much more complicated program than TDA.

The audio format error looks strange. Post back if it still persists after the process above. Probably you can try to isolate the defective fragment by authoring one segment at a time, and then re-encode the .mpa file in TMPGEnc.

Probably you can try to isolate the defective fragment by authoring one segment at a time, and then re-encode the .mpa file in TMPGEnc.
I have tried that but unfortunately we have no luck this time !

Perhaps the audio files are damaged somehow, because they are not accesable by any software I have tried:

1. Under TDA enviroment I became the same error as the last time...
2. Under TmpgEnc enviroment :Illegal MPEG audiostream
3. Under DVDMAESTRO version 2.9 enviroment :Media Detection Error (0xc10b0001)

But donīt worry ! Itīs allright, I can live with it! Until now the score is 6-2 we are winning and the score is rising fast!

Something new now! I have read in your last post that you work with Maestro. It looks kind of proffessional and Iīve "played" with it twice but since the realview was disable and I was new in this kind of stuff I let it go.
In the past I have heard quite impressive things about it: Subbtitling, menu authoring, multiplexing etc.

Question: I want to add in the upper right corner of my dvdīs screen one little logo or at least something (like a logo).
Is this possible by Maestro or any other application or the only thing we can add is a subbtitle on the upper right corner ?
I know that there are software solutions from Ulead or from Magix that can handle things like that but they must first change all of the project in mpg, and this is not always "flawless". For example MovieFactory "breaks" (as at least I know from my experience) bigger mpg parts into little ones and this produces a kind of a problem that you help me the other day ;)
So IF you have in mind something that I can handle in this style that you teach me until now then please for one more time........

Thank you in advance !

Actually, I mostly work with Sonic Scenarist, which is not the same as Maestro. In general, you can have subtitles anywhere on the screen and it can be a logo or anything else. You can only have 4 colors though.

You can do it in both Maestro and Scenarist but I can't give you detailed instructions for Maestro. Read the guides and search in Advanced DVD Authoring and Subtitles forums.
