View Full Version : Polaroid DVP-0600... DIVX Certified Junk?

Just got this player and was really excited to try it out. The headline on Divx.com tipped me off to it and I jumped at it because it was the first player that was locally available (Ks, USA), from a name brand (Polaroid), and it was DIVX certified. After getting the thing hooked up I popped in one of my Xvid backups and it went off without a hitch. The progressive component out was tight and I was very pleased.

That was at least for the first ten minutes. Then reality set in.

The movie locked up and started over. I pulled it out, copied it to the hard drive, burned it to a different brand name cdr media, at a slower speed, and then tryed it again. Same thing. So I started tossing other backups at it. So far the Polaroid DVP hasn't successfully played backed anything from divx 3.11. divx 4, divx 5, or Xvid. When has played it has shown everything from pauses, jerks, smears, and audio synch errors. I thought it would at least it would something. Then I read this thread at Divx.com

What in the world does Divx certified mean anyway if they do no testing on the machines wearing the stickers? Long story short, very disappointed, Best Buy has got a return in the mail, and I know longer will pay attention to the Divx certified crock.
