Searching within a thread.

How do I search the forums within a specific thread? Like for example I would like to search within the mediaplayerclassic thread http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?threadid=29798
on how to make an autorun cd with using the ffdshow filter with the mplayerc.exe and an autorun.inf

maybe vBulletin has improvements on the search feature?

Use your browser's search function (CTRL+F in IE) and go by each page manually? vB3 has a "view single post" function, so I'd expect to be able to search single posts as well. I'll investigate, and if necessary make a feature suggestion :).

Edit: Yep, vB3 allows this. So, the only wait is for it to go final and for Doom9 to update! :)

I'de hate to go through more than 80 pages of the upove linked thread and do ctrl+f each time. I'll wait for the improvements. Thanks.

oh and I was able to solve my autorun.inf problem.

It'll take a bit between final and us actually updating because we have numerous hacks that need to be adapted, some features you might take for granted but that aren't there. And there's the whole stability issue.. our German sister board has updated a long time ago and it was not pleasant process. We're much bigger and have to be even more careful to not break anything, so we'll probably run a test vbb3 board once the hacks have been adapted before we update the productive forum.

I know. :) I follow vB development semi-closely because a friend of mine has a vB hack/template/development forum which I moderate :). I'm still looking for that magic free owned license to fall out of the sky though (meaning: I don't have vB myself) :D.

I have found a somewhat workaround to my problem. under the current search options there is an option "Show results as posts" which I can use as opposed to "Show results as threads". This lets me go directly to the post of the keyword I was looking for.

on the side, I have noticed that several other video related forums are searchable through google. Is there anyway Doom9 can make the forums here at forum.doom9.org searchable through google? Thanks.

hm searching within a thread is maybe the only feature i miss on doom9 (not that often tough) :)
