I have been backing up my DVDs to a standalone Maxtor firewire drive for several months without a hitch (Using XP). It suddenly has stopped working with a very quick message "Rip Complete" after backing up anywhere between 1% and 20%. I tried DVD Decrypter, and it quit saying something about "Drive full?". I purged my drive of old files (it has about 70Gig free at this moment, and had 45Gig free before), but I get the same problem with both programs. Fearing I had installed something in my computer that was doing this, I did a system restore to a time in the past when it was all working, but... no luck. I've tried using two different DVD ROMS, one is an external (Firewire; same setup that used to work) and the other is an internal (which used to work as well, but is a slower drive.) No luck.

Any advice?

Thanks!

any version of norton tools installed in the system?

If yes, click on 'Empty Norton Protected Files' to actually purge all deleted files.

I have Norton Anti-Virus. I went and deleted all quaranteened files (very few) and a bunch more stuff on the Maxtor drive. All started working again. I wonder if both of the programs have an access limitation on large storage. Regardless, I'm now back to a good place.

Thank you!
