IS it possible to burn a VCD on DVD media? I want the standard MPEG-1, as that's probably better than re-encoded MPEG2.

Yes, although you'll need to tinker with the audio. VCD standard resolution in mpeg1 (352x288 or 240 @ 25 or 29.97 fps respectively) are standard DVD resolutions as well, in fact the only valid resolution if using mpeg1 video. The only difference is that while standard VCDs need the audio to be encoded at 44.1 khz, on DVDs it needs to be at 48 khz to meet specs. You should check the guides if you're not sure how to convert the audio.

hmm... I don't see anything to support direct stream conversion of mpeg video with audio convertor in the guides...

Just author your VCD's with DVDLab. Std VCD resolutions are also std DVD resolution. DVDLab will also convert your audio sample rate from 44.1 khz to 48 khz. However, if your in an NTSC world, you need to convert the MP2 audio to AC-3 for DVD playback compatability.

I dont see how this fits to Advanced DVD2SVCD forum either.
