MP3 VBR audio desync after video reencoding

Hi, I have a big (2CDs ~1.4GB) .AVI file which I want to write to one CD without reencoding the audio stream. Everyway I try to do it I can not syncronize together the new video stream and the original audio. Do you have any suggestions how to make is? The only information I've found on the net is to reencode the audio but I don't want to do this.

Video: div3, 1440 kb/s
Audio: 192 kb/s VBR LAME 3.90
