I decided to program a gui for mencoder.

Mencoder is a Encoder out of the linuxworld. It was ported to Windows so I started to code this GUI. Razorblade my friend helped me out with his sources, so I added some apps of him into DRPEnc.

A little bit about the functions of DRPEnc:

- Buildin BitrateCalc

It seems that some people here have troubles with my MEncoder builds.

looks like a really nice idea :D
but I (personally) think, that we first should work on the "perfect" commandline (so you could know which switches to implement :D)

Also a "filter" box would be cool as mencoder has got some really nice ones built in :D
(would be great to implement this in the templates... e.g. an "Cartoon/Anime Template" with a shorter GOP and denoise/smooth/sharpen filters :D)

Any way good effort for first time.
I will continue to try it out on small test clips.
It always encodes to mpeg1 even though I chose mpg4, or RV10.
And can you have it close mencoder dos box when complete?
And post some sample templates :p :devil::D

@tickey: I don't care about KVCD.net. Lets do them there job and mine do I self. You want to code... wait here is the trailversion of delphi7 enterprise (169 MB) (ftp://ftpd.borland.com/download/delphi/d7/Delphi7TrialInstall.exe) You can use it for 30 days with all functions. Then You have to by it. I didn't try it to reinstall it, cos I bougth it:D . It always encodes to mpeg1 even though I chose mpg4, or RV10. No! It encodes in mpeg2 if you choosed mpeg2. You have to demux it to get the m2v-stream. I'll add a autodemux routine to RC5. Till now use TMPGEnc or another demuxer.

@RonaldMac: Sorry! I didn't update the first post here. Now I did.
I coded it in WinXP... So it is a winapp. I can release also a linuxversion of it. But now I only releases winbuilds.:scared:

Hey Avalon, it is getting better :):o

Not working for me: 2 -pass
Even though I can select 2 pass, it never does it (mpeg4 or mpeg2)

Tips :) ?
1. Put DRPEncFiles folder in location user selects to install-NOT automatically on C:\. Many people like me use C:\ for boot/OS/swap file ONLY and don't like other things auto loaded on C drive.

2. Have it memorize were mencoder is (user selects path once to encoder one time then stored)

3. Have a preview button were new encoded file is opened in media player to preview (user selects path once to media player one time then stored)

4. Stamp each encoded file with date/time. No overwriting by accident, etc. and good info.

5. Have option to load exterior AC3-MP3 for muxing. Example. When creating .d2v project most people demux all tracks. Have it so user can select ac3. When ac3 is joined or demuxed it usually requires fixing (DSPguru's Besplit/ac3fix). This has to be done externally so loading of external files and just muxed with video would be good.

5. Load external mp3/.wav for compressing at same time mux with video.

6. Have Update Only link stating date/time of release.

7 The person who made avi2mpg (I read on his website he now works at mainconcept!) has command line tools to demux and analyze mpeg files. Perhaps you want to incorporate them into your GUI to save time/etc.

thx for it, ammon ! but ... how ? mencoder, ffvfw ok, but i've been unable to tune it for mpeg4. (see, tickey's comments too!)

I go final!!!

If you encode MPEG DRPEnc demuxes the ES Streams after finishing encoding.
Now it is possible to change the VBR Settings. Also the Buffer.
Quantisation like in FFVFW added.
DRPEnc save the stats now in Logfiles. So You get one for 1st Pass and one for 2nd Pass.
Trellis added.
GOB lenght now editable.
And much more changes! visit www.dvdr-page.tk for the new version:D

Sorry but I can't change this. The AVS-Filters are installed there. Also bbdmux.exe and makeAVIS.exe. Till now I can't change this folder or some functions don't work anymore. C:\ has everybody. I create a folder for storing the working files. After deleting DRPEnc it will be deleted to. Download the source. Maybe You'll find a way to get this flexible. ... I got right now a way. I make a settings window. where You can setup the path to the files. So I can read out this files and so it is flexible. I add this into the next version...

@all: Nobody can encode MPEG4? Sounds crasy... ... I can. You have to choose the codec MPEG4 and don't use B-Frames and no Matrices. So it should work.

Hi,
If you are already adding the ability to set the DRPEncFiles location in a settings window could you not just put the files in the same directory as your program.
Then (i think) you could just use ExtractFilePath(ParamStr(0)) to get the applications path.

I added some new features.

AC3ReEnc reencodes Your AC3Streams and get off the delay.
I added jsotos delaycut. With this app You can get of the delay of AC3 and DTS Streams.

Now I'm working on the DVDAuthor.

The params vi_qfactor and vb_qfactor seems to be exchanged by GUI when compiling command line output.
vi_qfactor must be 0.8
vb_qfactor must be 1.2

Now I'm working on a prediction function.

Its almost done!

Download the newest version 0.1.0.5 and read the guide btw.

How the precition will work:

First You have to set the goal size.

I tested it in 2Pass Mode.
For this example I needed 3700 MB for a DVD.
The sample size should have 74 MB cos I use 2% of the whole movie.

I start with the bitrate min 2500, avg 4500, max 6500 and got the filesize of 38.2 MB.
next bitrate was min 4500, avg 6500, max 8000 and got the filesize of 61.5 MB.
next bitrate was min 5000, avg 7000, max 8000 and got the filesize of 67.7 MB.
next bitrate was min 5200, avg 7000, max 8000 and got the filesize of 70,2 MB.
next bitrate was min 5400, avg 7000, max 8000 and got the filesize of 72.7 MB. This was close enough to 74 MB.

Now I run a check routine and set the double gobsize as frameoffset. Now I got complete different frames to code.
I take the bitrate min 5400, avg 7000, max 8000 and the checkfile got the filesize of 72.8 MB.

GOAL Finish. I can now encode the whole movie with min 5400, avg 7000 and max 8000.

... plus I can see the quality of the movie if I encode it in this bitrate...

... now I have to find a way to build this great function into DRPEnc...

0.1.0.6 RC1 out! It has the alpha Version of the file size prediction function...

Done!!! 0.1.0.7 is out! Take a look on this prediction sample:

This sample is exactly 1% of the movie. It is a action movie with lots of explosions... and it fits on 1 CD as SVCD in the quality of the sample! It never can get better than this quality of DRPEnc 0.1.0.7!

By the way: your sample from "Ghosts of Mars", starring Natasha Henstridge, is very compressible despite the explosions. I assume, because it's a very dark film.

I checked again the version 0.1.0.7 and found some bugs.
The ones who downloaded the 0.1.0.7;09:00 Version need only the Update Version to 0.1.0.7;19:14. You can find this on my page.

The ones who didn't download the version can download the complete new package.

Have fun with it.

Back to Ghosts of Mars. DRPEnc finished the Encode. The quality is the same as the sample. I got a 600 MB M2V File. I wanted a 685 MB large file, but this is also OK. So I can add the english and the german audiotracks to this project.

If I'm not mistaken I would suggest another mencoder binary instead of the one included with DRPenc:

This hasn't given me crashes anymore on 2 pass, maybe is related to P4 HT enabled... but a least now it works with this.

(my system is rock solid itself, 12h xvid/cce encoding proof)

@all: Some People out of the MVCD-Forum wanted a GUI-Only Release. So it be.

There is still the Installer Version including all apps You need to run DRPEnc. The GUI-Only Release is only the GUI and a readme. So You'll know which addons You'll need to run this Version. Also I modified some apps I use in DRPEnc. You can also download these versions on this server.

[Edit] Updated the mencoder to the newest Version.

Have fun.

BTW. For playing the Encoded Movies I recommend VIDEOLAN.

I released a new version.

Changes:

Now You can setup also the Quantizer values in the Prediction mode.
Plus you can use now more then one disc for encoding.
Also I added new resolutions. 1/2 DVD and make all fullscreen. So if You have a 16:9 Movie You can choose for example DVD16:9to1/2DVD4:3. DRPEnc will zoom the 16:9 source to a 4:3 source with the right aspect ratio.

how can i do that? i've been unable to reach neither divx nor xvid from drpc. what do i do wrong?
afais, drpc is a gui for some command-line encoder, but how could it invoke a dll ? or am i completely mistaken ?

@Yaz: I upload a MPEG4Trailer created in 0.1.0.9, K?

mpeg4 works now! I found some Bugs in the last 0.1.0.9 Version.

So here the list of codecs working with the new 0.1.0.9-05.03.04;23:01 Version:

MPEG4 with All Settings.
LJPEG without Advanced and Preprocessing.
AVS1 without Advanced and Preprocessing.
AVS2 without Advanced and Preprocessing.
MPEG1 with All Settings.
MPEG2 with All Settings.

All other crashes!!! This is a cos of the Advanced Settings and Preprocessing.

Sorry for that. I'll fix this later.

Cos I redesign DRPEnc totally!

tickey, sorry about that. The last 0.1.0.9 should work with all functions. I'm working on 0.2.0.0. I've to setup the CMDLineCreator completly new. It can be that I've add some bugs, cos of new functions I've not update on all forms. 0.2.0.0 uses one form. So I can see now better were a bug is hiding. Can You wait till afternoon? ;)

If You want, send me Your last Batchfile and I'll see what goes wrong in Your case.

Every body can say now:

WOW! Whats going on? He's a guy who learned coding in 2 weeks and goes so far with his program in such a short time!!!

Today the new version of DRPEnc is out!

I started a new series. 0.2 will get much better than 0.1!
Now the GUI is only 560x570 big and fits so on 800x600 screens.
... realy some people have still one...

I released the Installer version. Maybe I'll upload the GUIONLY version.

If somebody want to mirror it, do it. So will more people get this great GUI. Soon I'll start a translation file addon. So all'll be able to translate it...

BTW: The name "AVAMAT6" reminds me on someone formerly called "Avalon", I wonder if it is related to those projects like "n hours on 1 DVD".

Hi Ligh! Yes its me Avalon. Nice to see my work. As You know I added a guide at doom9.de. It was OGM2AVI/MPG.

BTW: I did it! The complete Season 1 of 24 on one DVD! You told me once I'll add all Startrek series on one Disc. Maybe in the next 50 Years... :scared: Tell me when you finished this ED.
