Hi folk!
Advise me setting for new XviD encoder which make true VBR video sream. When I use old stable encoder set was following
High Bitrate scenes % 0
Low Bitrate scenes % 0
Bitrate payback delay (frames) 1
I read about this in Koepi recomendation file.
Now I can not find 3rd parameter (Bitrate payback delay (frames)). How can make this with new RC2 encoder? May be this not very important? Then why?
With kind regards yup.

Just encode at a fixed quantizer - there your are: true VBR.
Seriously, the 2-pass code in XviD 1.0 is very VBR, i. e. quantizers don't fluctuate as much as they used to do.
Edit: A word of advice - keep the default setting for overflow treatment et. al.

Teegedeck Thanks for reply. I use 2-pass encoding, but use fixed quantizer go to unpredictable file size.

Setting payback delay to 1 kills your purpose. If a frame underflows or overflows, the following frame will have to absorb the difference. In case of overflow (when a frame is larger than predicted at a given quantizer), the following frame will be encoded with a much too high quant.

I write that this way good work with old Koepi encoder (i made approx 10 DVD to XviD conversion), and I want know how make this with new RC2 XviD encoder or may be this not very important for high quality encoding.?
