Hey guys
When I burn my SVCD's i often get artifacts when i play the video on my standalone player. The source material (The SVCD on harddrive) is ok, that's for sure so I guess its a matter of finding the right solution for burning (e.g right burn speed cd-r's). I wanna know if it is a common problem for u also. Is it a matter of getting at high quality burner og high quality cd-r's or do someone have experience with this and know of other solutions.
I have a Lite On 52X burner. I have never experienced problems with writing data or audio cd's. It's only when writing SVCD material :(

Hi,

Try to burn at 8X to see if speed is the real issue. Yes it will take 10min to burn a full CD, but I always burn my VCD or SVCD that way (especially if you use cheap CD).

Cheers,

Okay, I'll try to make a few tests. I just read an article saying that most burners are optimized for burning at maximum speed. On the other hand it's not sure that the cd-r's are?

Hi,

Correct me if I'm wrong.

I read somewhere on the net that CD-RW are better suited to be read by a dvd player than CD-R when encoding VCD or SVCD. CD-RW are read in a similar way than DVD on a stand alone dvd player.

Can someone confirm this.

I had artifacts problem by making a copy of a CD-RW (vcd film) to a CD-R. But not problems by making a CD-RW copy to another CD-RW copy. Is this related? don't know.
