What filter to remove TemporalSmoother-artifacts?

With my anime-file, the producers seem to have used too strong values in a TemporalSmoother, what's producing some ugly 'shadows' or 'ghosts' of previous frames. :(
What filter would be best to remove those shadows/ghosts?

The source-file also has got many spots & stains and dirt in it (mostly black).
Is there any good filter for that?

Whould I get better results, if the video is deinterlaced first, or could that confuse spot-detection?

Looks like Fizick's 'DeSpot' filter could be the perfect solution:

Fizick has done a 'DeScratch' filter which could also be worth a look (might help with the problems on the first picture - it's on the same site)

DeSpot has the option whether to treat the video as interlaced or not, so set according to your intended target.

MOST filters work best on progressive material though, so if you are deinterlacing to watch on your PC then I would do that first before doing any processing.

Descratch & Despot don't work somehow. I get an error "avs_new_video_frame_a" not found in DLL "avisynth_c.dll".
I use avisynth v2.5.4.0 what should cope with C-Plugins without the avisynth_c.dll... Anyway, if I add the avisynth_c.dll I get even more errors.

For the spots I've tested RemoveDirt (http://www.removedirt.de.tf/) what seems to work quite well.

But I really need something like an "AntiTemporalSoften()" filter, which removes these ugly ghosts. :(
All other smoothers whipe out detail and the ghosts remain (because they are somewhat sharper)

DeSpot working fine here: using AviSynth 2.5.5 Alpha - drop the avisynth_c.dll (v0.14) in to the plugins directory, and put despot.dll in ANOTHER directory (like you would Dust or old AviSynth plugins), then load manually with LoadCPlugin. Slight bit of hassle, but at least it works that way.

Hopefully you will be able to try again - with DeSpot and RemoveDirt you should have the perfect filters for cleaning your video.

If when you say "ghosting" you mean the faint (but visible) outlines of the two ships in the picture, then my (admittedly very brief) tests seem to indicate the RemoveDirt should tackle it nicely - just try raising some the thresholds etc and they should go.

Else you could looking at something like the "unblend" or "Ghostbuster" filters - availiable from WarpEnterprise's filter page.
