Hi,
I have Windows XP system on my PC and last week I installed XviD 1.0 RC2.Unfortunately all the programs that should find the codec (not the filter!!!) like GraphEdit, VirtualDub, iuVCR, etc. do not show it. Later I uninstalled some other codecs and found out that when I reinstall ANY of them, it can not be found by the programs. The only place that I can see them is in Control Panel->Sounds and Multimedia->Hardware->Video Codecs->Properties but it does not help me. Other thing that may help is that the installed XviD codec does not fill "xvid" field in "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\ActiveMovie\devenum\{33D9A760-90C8-11D0-BD43-00A0C911CE86}" Maybe this is the root of the problem.
Thanks in advance for the help.

Have a look at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Drivers32, make sure you have no empty vidc.* entries there and remove all those you really don't need anymore. At least VirtualDub has an upper limit to the number of codecs it will enumerate (dunno if it's 16 or 32), and empty entries will make it stop immediately.

Well well. Let me tell you one thing:

:readfaq: and :search:

I added that point to the TOP of the FAQ yesterday - it's very obvious and clear that you didn't even bother to read it :(
