spatio-temporal smoother

I've been encoding in DivX5 with VirtualDub using Avisynth 2.08 for a while, with Convolution3D as spatio-temporal smoother. Now I've starded to use AviSynth 2.54, I've read the denoising filters comparisons... but only speed and size have been compared... and what about image quality ?!?
So I've tested some of them (convolution3d, deen, undot, dnr2...) and actually I use Deen. And you ?? What filter do you use guys ?? If someone has a better solution than the Deen filter, well, tell me and justify your proposition.

There is no truth, lovecraft25.

Some filters are ok with some sources and less with others.

You can think a filter is very good where other people think the opposite (because quality is a subjective thing).

You maybe want gain quality while others want to gain compressibility.

and so on...

So, try. A good beginning is to try deen, fluxsmooth, mipsmooth and convolution3d if you are using rather clean sources. But... there are plenty others !

I want to obtain better image quality. Usually, I encode materials that have heavy granularity, and Convolution3D did perfect job to clean the image when I used AVS 2.08 ... But now, with AVS 2.54, Convolution3DYV12 doesn't seem to give me the results I used to obtain. Maybe I'll return and stick too the old AVS 2.08 in spite of the longer encoding time :-D After all, it's not faster encoding time that I want, so maybe I'll test the GoldDust, PixieDust and Co.

For heavy noise, Dust could be the way to go. You could have a look to peachsmoother too (should be faster).

Ok thanks, I'll test that...

I've returned to the old good AVS 2.08 because, with 2.54 in YV12 I can't crop pixel per pixel, only by certain multiple...

So the thread is closed.
