You are right, Mr Moderator. jggimy, I am sorry.
This is about a DVD my friend sent from HongKong with three private movies that he made in it; the one I worked with (Running time a little less than two hours) was 1.87 GB. Although DVD2AVI said the source (4:3, 29.970, NTSC) was Interlaced, AutoGK judged it as Progressive. Moreover, I did make a tiny project file with a high-motion sequence from the source and examined it frame by frame; every fifth frame was a repeat of the fourth one, but interlacing artefacts could not be discerned. So I made the .d2v project file with Force Film OFF, and then opted for IVTC in GKnot, correcting for frame count.
I have encoded it with GKnot two times. Each time, compressibility test gave different estimates. I kept the % figure between 60 and 70 each time.
The two efforts produced these two files; information follows-
1st Encode
File Size 703MB (Custom size of 748 MB not acieved)
Frame Size 416 x 304
Length 158829
Keyframes 4009
Data Rate 762 Kbps
Vbr mp3 Data Rate 116 Kbps
2nd Encode
File Size 750 MB (Achieved custom size ordered 750 MB)
Frame Size 256 x 192
Length 158829
Keyframes 3810
Data Rate 822 Kbps
Vbr mp3 Data Rate 116 Kbps
The files look no different from each other. Conceding that the eye may not spot subtle differences, which file should I keep ? Which should look better on projection ?
I know that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but which one is scientifically better ?
Tell me if it an absurd question, or you need more info.
