I have heard it is YV12. Am I right?
Does that mean if convert my original avi info YV12 by avisyth then use virtual-dub's fast recompress, it will be quicker than I use normal recompress with the original files?
BTW: Can anyone kindly give me some reference explain these stuff? I am very insteresting to know it a little further? Thanks.

Yes.
This has been mentioned so many times in so many threads that I'd say that's a clear violation of forum rule#1: Use the search. Especially since this is not your first time.
Please try to 'lurk' a few weeks on the entire Doom9 forum before asking all these simple newbie questions.
Lurking means: reading posts and not writing them.
Edit:
In fact you also violated forum rule#2: Lurk before you post.

Well, you are probably right. That is probably why I have heard of that before. However, usually they are not explained very clearly, (it is quite confusing to read these debate) or my ability of understanding is not that well. Sometimes I just want to make sure I am right. And, I wish there would be somewhere clearly explain those stuff systematically.
Anyway thx.
