Hi,

I have a movie that is splitted on 2 DVD. I want to back it up on 1 DVD. I used DoItFast4U to demux everything, and i'm reauthoring everything myself (wow ! long job !)

I joined the first and second m2v file (one for each dVD) with a avs script, reencode it with CCE to one mpv file. I trimmed the last 5 minutes of the second DVD in the avs script. I still have the two AC3 files, one for each dVD.

I created a track under Scenarist, putting the single m2v file, adding the first AC3 at the beginning, and the second AC3 at the end of the first AC3 (on the same audio stream).

The "duration" of the first AC3 file and the "start time to video" of the second AC3 file are the same, so it should be ok.

But when i play it, everything is in synch in the first part of the video, and there is a dealy in the second part : the sound is in late :)

I tried to "mux" the second audio and the original second video under virtual dub and the resulting avi is perfectly in synch.

For info, DoitFast4u gave me a -79 ms fixed delay for the first AC3 and a -40 ms fixed delay for the second.

I don't understand what i need to do. Any idea ?

There is a very simple solution to this problem if you don't mind spending some more time on re-encoding. Encode two parts of your movie separately. Then create two tracks in Scenarist out of these two parts and add them one after another to the same PGC in scenario editor. Ensure that the first cell of the second part is marked Seamless for uninterrupted playback.

Actually, you might do this even faster if you simply cut you .m2v back into two parts, but you have to do it in the exact location you joined them in order to maintain audio sync.

In fact it's a smarter solution. I should had this idea to encode both m2v separately, as the AC3 files are separated...

I'd prefer to cut, cause it took me 30 hours to encode...

Which tool i should use to cut the mpv ?

Thanks

Here's a convenient way to cut MPEG files. Use TMPGEnc DVD Author (http://www.pegasys-inc.com/en/product/tda.html) (TDA) to create a DVD with two tracks, each being a part of your movie. You can trim beginning or end of a clip in Chapter Cut Edit with maximum precision possible for MPEG files. Once you created the DVD, each track will become a separate titleset. Demux video streams out of VTS_01_1.VOB and VTS_02_1.VOB with VobEdit for example, and you got your two .m2v files that you can use in Scenarist.

If you want to ensure right away that you cut your file in the right place, add your AC3 files as audio source for each clip in Clip Information dialog. TDA won't play AC3 but they will sound just fine in the finished DVD. Play it in PowerDVD or other software player to verify audio sync.
